A plan to erect a World War Two memorial on the National Mall is nearing its final stages. Its designers and supporters say that such a memorial is long overdue. But critics object to its placement near the Lincoln Memorial, and say that it will disrupt the design of the Mall. A panel talks about the process of designing and planning the site of the memorial, and why it’s become the subject of fierce conflict among veterans’ groups, historic preservationists, and other groups.
