In 1944 and 1945, Tracy Sugarman was a naval ensign serving in World War II. Like many young newlywed soldiers, he wrote hundreds of letters to his bride back in the States. But he also sent home his pencil sketches and watercolors showing both the dramatic and the mundane events he witnessed before, during, and after D-Day. These letters and illustrations are excerpted in his new book.
