Author Andrew Carroll traveled to thirty-five countries on five continents in search of letters written to and by soldiers during times of war. He collected correspondence from the present conflict in Iraq to the American Revolution. The letters reveal the horror of war, as well as acts of heroism, patriotism, and even humor.
