The Senate Armed Services Committee holds confirmation hearings today on President Bush’s nominee to succeed Donald Rumsfeld as Secretary of Defense, Robert Gates. We’ll talk about the hearings and some of the many challenges he’ll face as head at the Defense Department if confirmed as expected.
