The American public expected to know the results from Iowa, the first contest of the 2020 Democratic presidential primary, by Monday night.

Instead, there was mass confusion. Technical challenges marred the reporting process leaving many questions about just what happened.

E.J. Dionne is a Washington Post columnist and Brookings Institution senior fellow. He has a new book called “Code Red: How Progressives and Moderates Can Unite To Save Our Country.”

He joined Diane Tuesday morning to talk about what happened in the Iowa caucuses and the tension in the Democratic party between moderates and progressives.
