The first military trial of a terrorism suspect at Guantanamo began Monday and the judge threw out some evidence against Osama bin Laden’s former driver, Salim Hamdan, that had been collected through harsh interrogation techniques. Also Monday, Attorney General Michael Mukasey asked Congress to legislate how detainees may challenge their detentions in light of a recent Supreme Court ruling granting that right.
