Last week, bad blood reached new heights over Senate majority leader Harry Reid’s threat to do away with the filibuster. Reid said that if Republicans continue to stall on votes with filibusters for 7 executive branch nominees, he will change Senate rules. He proposed allowing these nominees to be confirmed by simple majority. Republican minority leader Mitch McConnell called it a brazen power grab and said it’s a change democrats “will live to regret”.
