Catastrophic mechanical failure, terrorism, a hijacking, pilot suicide: nothing, so far, has been ruled out as a possible explanation for the disappearance of Malaysian Airlines Flight 370. Ships, planes and helicopters are searching in a wide area for some trace of the jetliner that dropped off radar over the Gulf of Thailand early last Saturday. Without wreckage to study or a black box recorder to analyze, investigators have no clues in the effort to find out what happened to the plane and its 239 passengers.
